Sight Seeing
« on: January 07, 2018, 06:34:14 PM »
I went to New Mexico a couple days after Christmas to visit my son and his family on a large ranch where he recently became employed.    The ranch is located about 80 miles North West of Roswell NM.   The nearest town or "village" as they call them down there is a place called Corona.   About 40 miles south from the ranch is the town of Capitan.
Not much to speak of ever happens in the area except for one thing....   In 1947 an alien spacecraft supposedly landed there.    The landing site of the alien spacecraft is on the ranch where my son now works.
I'm not much interested in such things but we went and took a look at the site where the Aliens allegedly landed in 1947.
There is a rock tower built next to the crater and someone actually spent a good bit of money on a granite marker.

Not sure if anyone is interested in seeing but here's a couple photos.

A tobacco tin is hidden in the rocks so people can sign the list as visitors.

Yes... people actually sign in and leave email and other contact info.

The Alien landing site is actually on a small piece of BLM land which is surrounded by private ranch land owned by the company my son works for.   The ranch holds the lease on the BLM land.  There is a county road that passes with a half mile of the site and a two rut trail leading from the road up to the area so access is open to the public.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for posting, I've seen on TV but never knew one could drive right to it.
Maybe one of my many planned motorcycle trips.

Looks like where I would land; out in the middle of nowhere so that itís a long walk to everywhere!

That's one of the few places we didn't visit over the years of visiting my parents in Las Cruces. Guess I never knew where it was located.
