Colt 1878
« on: October 10, 2013, 10:31:39 AM »
Here is my 1878 Colt. Externally it looks pretty good, but the internals need work. Cylinder doesn't turn, etc. I believe the hand is broken as when I got it, the gun would function.....if you pointed the muzzle down. This is "modern" as it fires a 45 Colt cartridge.

Nice, looks like a good project.  I'm curious about that round sideplate, seen them before, but what goes on under there?
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Yeah, I've been saying that for a few years now! Just too MANY such projects. Here ya go, picture of what's under that round side plate:

The screw is actually the hammer pivot screw, access to the hand and sear, etc. as I see it. Will have to get Chicoine's book out to research it.

Yeah, I've heard that too! Also have a couple-3 Thunderers to work on if my projects slow down any....fat chance!
