I need an 1849 pocket. I also need a Remington 1863 steel frame pocket.

My short list is:

- an 1860, preferably one that can take a conversion cylinder fairly easily

- a Dance repro (if we're talking "money is no object" then original otherwise repro)

- Dragoon

In that order.

I'm looking for a well preserved original percussion shot gun.

Here's my 'short list' issue...with as little as I've managed to get out and shoot the last few years (due to cost, distance, and time availability) I have to wonder how many times I would actually shoot anything I bought that is on my short list?  ???
Most of us here are 'graybeards' on the downhill side of the mountain. And it's not like I (or many of you as well) can just step out the back door and rip off a dozen rounds or so. I guess that's an individual decision we all have to make; when to say "when" and decide we have enough. It seems kind of ludicrous to buy a gun you may fire but once or twice...or never...in your lifetime. :-[
After all, (and I hate to admit it but it's true), I have a few BP guns...several of them new & unfired...that I have never shot. ^j)

There. I said it.

There's a few nice ones on gunbroker with no bids but kinda high in my opinion. There's a couple of fixer uppers that aren't bad and one that's a single barrel advertised as a fowler but has rifle sights that might be worth looking at.

Thanks Hawg, I looked them over. Some seems real nice. Problem is 1) the price and 2) the shipping.
Prices will probably more than double, considering fees, transport over the Atlantic and import duties.
Have to look closer to home.

No problems Hawg. Your laughs are on me, free of charge. Some guy on this forum (or maybe the Remi forum) claimed to be born in the wrong century. I'll side with him and add on the wrong continent.
