Another project gun
« on: November 27, 2013, 02:07:21 PM »
I had picked up parts and pieces for this gun over 2-3 years and decided to try to make a 22 conversion with it. I made a recoil plate for it and turned the rear of the cylinder down.

Made a firing pin ala R&D as a model.

Made 22 liners from Grade 5 bolts and JB Welded them in place.

Before someone asks.... I turned down a piece of 22 barrel to fit the drilled out 36 caliber barrel; also JB Welded in place. No... I haven't shot it yet, been tinkering with other stuff. Also trying to decide if I want to go through the work of a loading gate. Decisions, decisions...

Using a Colt frame makes a lot more sense than what I did, I did a similar conversion but used a Pocket Remington.

Is that a Pony I see on the frame?

Yeah, it is a Centaur frame I picked up 10-12 years ago, found other parts and pieces at on-line auctions. I modified the frame before I knew what it was... (jh

I can't take credit for the idea for making this 22 conversion. R.H. McCrory (anyone remember him?) had made up some home made videos of this very conversion and I bought one.
