Cased Pair of NAA Companions
« on: March 04, 2017, 03:31:14 PM »
So I wanted a case for my NAA Companion. I like pairs so when I ordered the grips I had made I had two sets so I now "need" another gun to go with it. Anyway's these are mini revolvers only about 4" long so I need a small case to put them in. I am using some pics I found for inspiration something like this. There are lots of different ways they laid the pistols out in the cases so I am trying something a little non traditional for mine but more on that later

I couldn't find a wood case I liked in a small enough size but I did find a vintage case made for high priced table cutlery, probably a fish knife or fruit knife set. I went with this one because it was a little thicker than normal so I have about 1 1/8" inside to work with. It is 6" by 5 1/2" high so about perfect. Here are the auction pics I didn't like the blue all that much so I have dyed it black and ripped the lining out

It is going to be French fitted and both the base and lid will contain accouterments. I am planning the following depending on what fits:

Base
2 NAA Companions with Imitation Ivory Grips
1 Powder Flask - TBD
2 Ted Cash NS Cap Boxes - one for caps one for bullets
2 Spare Cylinders or
2 Oil Bottles

Lid
1 3 1/2" Colt Dagger with replaced handle made from Imitation Ivory
1 Mini Screwdriver with handle made from Imitation Ivory
1 Nipple Wrench (for NAA Nippls) with handle made from Imitation Ivory

I had the knife re-handled will post pics when i get it back next week and I think I have a line on a flask. I have the ivory material for the wrench and screwdriver but need to make them (wish I had a lathe that would make things easier)

Velvet lining

I have a silverware box ($5.00 at a garage sale) that I would like to convert to a pistol/revolver case. It's big enough for a 2 gun display. Also have some of the old wooden cigar cases that I think would work well too. Might have to put stronger hinges on those though. Lots of projects!!

Got some 1/4 poplar at home depot. Laminated two together and cut it to fit inside the case. Still need to trim it some to allow for the cloth around the outside edge. This will be the base of the velvet lining with some light padding
