Title: Crossdraw holster for Walker?
Post by: ssb73q on March 23, 2017, 09:56:36 AM
Hi, I wonder if a crossdraw holster for a Walker would make any sense? The Walker is a heavy revolver and I wonder if a crossdraw holster would work for the Walker.

Regards,
Richard

Crossdraw is absolutely the best way to go.   Long barrels are almost always easier to draw and holster from a crossdraw.  The added weight of the Walker is even more reason to go crossdraw.

Yep, that picture of Rip Ford comes up whenever "Texas Ranger" or "Walker holster" is Googled.  One of my favorite photos of a frontiersman.

Ford commanded confederate troops at the last battle of the war. He also commanded them at the first battle where confederate troops drew blood

I have mine where they are in sockets.  The 2 holsters can be on right or left side etc, via placing them in either socket.  Cross draw/direct draw.  Works good.    I made all of them this way (Holster, belt and pocket models). They can be inside/outside the belt, on left/right side, the pistol can be in the socket alone, or in the holster, and the holster in the socket.
