Whitneyville-Hartford Modle
« on: November 10, 2015, 07:48:54 AM »
Been meaning to get at the cylinder on this one. Did so in the wee hours this morning. Removed the factory tooling/grinding marks from the brass too. Perhaps this is pretty close to what one would of looked like when it left the original factory in 1847.

The shiney cylinder and brass will now be allowed to patina naturally. I will shoot it again this morning before heading off to work. It is fairly new and I have only had it out twice. it will likely get the varnish stripped from the wood later this winter and receive an oil rubbed finish.

Stunning! Did the cylinder come blued, or in the white (as was HC?)

Hi scooby, that's one beautiful BP revolver! Like always, I always enjoy your beautiful firearm photos, I can almost touch them. However, I would need to wipe off my drool so as to not corrode the revolver.  *6' *6'

Regards,
Richard

It was blued Capt. I stripped it 100 percent. Did the cones as well.

I did in fact know that the Whitneyville was your favorite Dragoon. Rightfully so too. It has a lot  going for it given that it was short lived and bridged the gap between the development of the horse pistols.

Another mighty fine compliment Richard and it is very much appreciated. And I would not care if you drooled on one of my guns. It could get cleaned up later after you got tired of shooting  it!

Sorry I am late to the party. That is probably the nicest representation of a Walker I have ever seen.

Kudos!

Beautiful Whitneyville Dragoon! Have always wanted one, but never got around to purchasing one - yet. I do have a Walker though.

I always label and save Scoobyís photographs.  Itís the go to archive to enjoy a slide show or show others what these various revolvers really look like.

Big ups, Scooby !
