Prayers up and God speed a quick recovery. I contracted pneumonia three years ago after back surgery. Not fun.

Thanks all.

After a day of testing, there is fluid on the one lung but not pneumonia.  Not sure what it is.  Lots of testing and no answers.  Frustrating?  Annoying?  Agravating?  Not really sure.  I finally reminded one of the MDs that they are not sucking on the insurance tit with this one.  I am paying for this and knock off the repetitive testing.  He was not happy and I doubt I am well liked.  Guess I will have to cry myself to sleep tonight!

I can tell you this, the dogs are not happy their Mom is not home.  Neither am I.

Thanks again.

Kevin

What a roller coaster ride!  Yesterday, the MD in charge of the case came by and we chatted for quite a while.  The fluid around the lung was not infected nor likely to come back.  The organs are all "resetting" themselves to normal.  Bottom line, most likely we will go home Monday.

Today, I come in and something is not quite right.  Long story short, her blood sugar is damn near zero.  Many glasses of orange juice later and she is up to the dangerous level!  I go to call off from work and realize I have left my phone at home.  I make sure she understands to keep drinking the OJ.  She tells me she is cold so I drape the blankets and add my winter coat.  I tell the Nurse I will be back in about 90 minutes.  Actual time was closer to 50.  My customers are very good and even though I have had four calls asking where I am, they are all understanding when I explain.

Herself is sleeping now and her blood sugar continues to climb.  I continue to force OJ when she is awake.

I have a hunch, we are not going home tomorrow.

They are scheduling more tests for tomorrow.

As much as I want her to come home, I would prefer to actually find out why we had to come back.  And treat it.  I am back and forth to the hospital several times a day.  Early in the morning, then to work, back to hospital, home for the dogs, back to hospital, home to feed the dogs, back to hospital and finally, home for the night.  Then the dogs become velcro and it is hard to get my supper.

I don't mean to sound like I am complaining, just letting off a little steam.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I can understand the need to complain/vent. You are entitled to do so, IMO.

It always takes a toll on a normal lifestyle.

The problem with doctors and hospitals these days is they (all) must perform all manner of tests so as not to be a victim of malpractice; just covering their butts, and covering their bottom line. Why does one think that there are ever decreasing numbers of doctors in the workplace?

Until we get legislation (tort reform) to preclude spurious malpractice lawsuits, health care costs will not go down but will increase. The healthcare lobby has tons of money to lobby the Congress but so far ears are deaf in the Congress, and ObamaCare is just a Band-Aid.

Well, yesterday, Herself was discharged from the hospital.  We got home about 4pm and the dogs greeted her most vocally.  She is walking much better, still a bit shaky and slow, but she was not a speed demon prior to the visit.

Her appetite is back and so is her sense of humour.

It appears the MDs have a handle on the problem thins time.  Time will tell, but I hope not to be back to the hospital in three weeks.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Appetite and sense of humor are two excellent indicators of well being.
Glad to read the good news.
All the best to you both.

Wow! What a ride for the both of you. Very glad to know she is feeling better and hopefully on the mend. Thoughts and prayers until both of you are walking in sunshine.
