What is your favorite Colt to shoot?
« on: February 20, 2016, 12:28:57 PM »
Hi, What is your favorite BP Colt to shoot?

My choice is the 1851, it's the most accurate revolver I have ever owned. The pockets come in second for just fondling.

Regards,
Richard

I'd have to say, my 1860 Army. The grips fit my big hands well. Also love shooting the Walker, and my 1851s are fun to shoot too.

I hate to admit it but my favorite BP shooter is one that never really existed back in the day.    It's an 1873 Bisley black powder model made by Uberti.  The Bisley grip just fits me right.
That said,  of the historical revolvers the 2nd model Dragoon I have is the one I choose to shoot the most.

60 army right now. Just got one and it seems to fit me the best. Used it on a couple bunnies and the 44 seems to have sufficient power.   *6'.     Next is a 51 Navy or48 pockets.           Mark

My favorite Colt? Probably my Walker. It's easy to load, and so impressive. My favorite BP pistol would likely be my Tower Pistol, or my Liege Derringer, as they are easy to load, and a hoot to shoot. My favorite BP firearm? My Sharon Hawken.

My 62' Pocket Navy, (2nd Gen). It's the only real Colt I own and I have a spare cylinder for it off a 62' Pocket Police.

Mike, I have always been intrigued by your 1873 Bisley black powder model. I have never seen another like it. Not like the 1873 Peacemaker model. I know you posted pics of it here somewhere, but I can't find them now.

Are we talking C&B or cartridge Colts?

As much as I enjoy the 1860s, I would have to admit my favorite C&B Colt is the Improved Navy or 1861.

For cartridge revolvers, the Richards Model built by ASM.

Richard's original question was which BP Colt revolver is your favorite.   If we expand it to include cartridge revolvers my favorite is my Uberti Richards/Mason conversion.

I guess he could mean cartridge revolvers that were designed for BP rather than smokeless.   In that case R/M conversions would apply too.

1851 Navy. Easy on lead, powder, and recoil. Points like a dream and is very accurate.
