Do I have a problem?
« on: February 20, 2016, 04:41:13 PM »
Taking a nap earlier and while waiting to fall asleep, it occurred to me that I have eight loaded guns within reach, or within a few steps of in reach, and guns in just about every room of the house, including the bathroom.

Well I guess it depends on how many rooms are in the house?!

Your problem Miner is a small one that needs no real attention. The only issue I see you having is remembering which room to head for when you want any particular one.  (7+"

If there are no small children present, then no problem.

Instead of guns in every room, why not just one, on your belt?  It works for me.

Hi Electric, is that all? The simple safety rule, "treat all guns as if they are loaded" works every time.

I don't count the loaded guns salted around my house because I can't count that high.  )lI )lI )lI

I have several guns (hidden) around the house, mostly semi-autos that have loaded magazines in them. The reason they are hidden is that we have grandchildren visiting often. Usually, when they are visiting, those guns are secured, but sometimes there isn't time. And that rule about treating all guns as if they are loaded is an absolute! The kids are getting to the age where most of them are well versed in gun handling ( or NOT handling!) but I would rather err on the side of caution. There is also a law here about leaving loaded firearms within reach of minors.

Back when children were in the house, there were several S&W M3913s in various places.  All had one chambered, no magazine, and the safety off.  My wife and I both carried magazines with us.  If we needed a handgun, we only had to grab it and insert the magazine.  Never needed any of them.

Lets talk about this. You claim a problem. Is it, taking a nap ? or setting up to relax thinking about your loaded guns ?
I don't believe you have a problem at all, sounds reasonable to me. L@.

I normally carry my SIG P238 in a Sneaky Pete holster around the house/yard. We are in the boonies, neighbors near by, but not within shouting distance. Just don't want to be surprised....

At bedtime, my M22-4 goes under the pillow.

I keep my Sig P220 by the bed.

My wife keeps her double barreled outside hammer coach gun by the bed.
