Monthly Colt Postal Match
« on: March 01, 2016, 01:02:39 PM »
Let's spice our lives a little bit by having a monthly Postal Match using our beloved 1860s and 1852s.
The challenge each month is for shooting 20 shots at 20 yrds using the NRA B-4 targets.  Five shots per target; total of four targets.  The time limit would be one hour for each course.  A perfect score would be a 200.
You can repeat the course as many times you want and report only your best set.
Result to be PMed to me.  I will tally the results at the end of the month and report back to the board inside the first five days of the proceeding month.

When reporting results list the following:

1860 or 1852 brand (Uberti, Pietta, Colt, etc.)
Bullet type and diameter (example: Ball, 0.457")
Powder type, grain and weight by volume
Cap brand and size (example: CCI #11)
Score out of 200 (example: 155)

OK, sounds good. Couple of questions though: off hand, one hand, two hand, bench rested, witnessed? I won't be much competition to several on the forum who are great shooters.  L@J

Clint Eastwood never held his BP gun with two hands in the movies!!!  He only used the left hand to fan the hammer.

Apart from my bad joke, I think the best would be standing and holding the gun with one hand.
Exception would be if a competitor is bound to a wheel chair, then he/ she would be ok sitting down.

Also , the concept of. Postal Match is entirely based in the honor system.  No need for witnesses.

I'm guessing you won't find B-4 targets at Wally World.

Due to the lackluster response to the Postal Match invitation, there won't be one exclusive to this fora, but.........due to the large overwhelming response in the 1858 fora, you all are invited to participate in that one.  Maybe you might demonstrate the superiority of the Colts over the Remis.
Format:
Total of 20 shots into 4 B-4 targets (5 per target).  Time limit 1 hr.
NRA rules rule.
