Prototype
« on: December 27, 2014, 04:34:38 AM »
I stole this photo from the internet.

A double action boarding Paterson revolver.  Not my cup of tea, but interesting.

Yes it is interesting.   I wouldn't want to slip while using that loading lever.

Interesting, but I'd pass on it.

Are you sure that's based on a Paterson?
Six shots, loading lever, top strap......?
Seems more like an original design rather than a Paterson.

The loading lever is actually the trigger guard.  The knife blade is fixed.

OK,  but that doesn't look any safer to load with.   I think this would have made both a poor revolver and a poor knife.   Probably a little better knife than a revolver.

Might be why Colts stopped pursuing the idea.  The Elgin Boarding Pistol is a similar example of a combination tool the did neither role well.

Interesting to see the evolution process of these weapons though.   Thanks for posting this.   I don't spend a lot of time looking for historical info.   I probably would not have seen this if it were not posted here.
