Title: Eskimo ulu
Post by: Snaggletooth on August 29, 2013, 08:52:56 PM
I watch the shows of Alaskans and like to see them skin flesh, filet fish with their ulu.  I bought one and it is handier than a pocket on a shirt,  I slice and dice with it daily.  Hope to try it skinning this deer season

I have often wondered about those things.
They look like they would be real handy, just different.

I probably get to sharpen a dozen of them each year.  The weak link in the system is the handle.  Many ulu's are made for the tourist trade and the handle is poorly attached.  Make sure the method used to secure the handle is up to the task.  A lot of forces are acting on the handle, not like a knife.
