This may not be a War Between te States photo. Maybe much later Indian Wars. Very plain uniform.  Pullover button front shirt.
Sharps or Remington Carbine?  Crossdraw holster on right side.  Cartridge belt for rifle cartridges.  Cavalry saddle and boots.

Good pic and pics there Wild Wilkie ... the stock and band look like a Remington, a wild guess at the Revolver looks like a S&W Schofield maybe...

I hadn't thought of a schofield.  The grip looks pretty big to me.

Also, on PBS's Antique Roadshow last night, a man brought in a rev he identifed as an 1851 Navy.  Glad to see the appraiser properly ID'd it as a Colt 2nd Dragoon.  It was an unaltered gun in very good condition appraised at $8000.00!
