Was at our indoor range tonight burnin up some powder in my ROA.
Man it's been a looong time since I've done that. Took me a while to remember how to load it. It's a good thing the exhaust fans were working. Only 2 of us shooting, but man did we smoke it up. Gotta do this more often. Still have to clean it yet. Might just have to wait till morning. I was using 777, and with our dry air here, I can get away with it.

I'll get to it in the morning. I have a 1911 I have to pull the barrel to inspect for leading. IU've been working on a load using the bullets from my latest mold, a 230 grain RN. I've been working it up in steps trying to get some good velocity without leading. I've got them up to about 850 f/s now, and I haven't seen any leading yet. I'm kind of surprised as my bullets are considered to  be too soft @ 9 bhn, but they're working well. Just goes to show ya that you don't need as hard lead as many think.

That's a good velosity for that round S4B ... I think you may have somethin' there.  I can't tell ya how fast my .38spl hot loads were goin' or my .357mags ... but those were store bought Hardcast lubed boollits.
I'll put a guess in at 900fps they'll still hold up. Dang that's probly a gadget I should have  laugh one a them FPS Meters yes

Well, the ROA isn't dirty any more. I did a complete tear-down. Even took out the bolt and spring. Never done that before cause I figured it would be a pain to put back in. Once I figured out how to do it, it was a piece of cake.
I pulled the barrel on the 1911 and it showed no signs of leading. I think I've hit my go-to load.
Now if I can figure out how to install the new rear sight leaf on the 422, I'll be all set.

Well done S4B ... them ROAs are pretty much a piece a cake ... they are tack drivers, Bullet Proof, easy to disassemble clean and reassemble...kinda of a King a Pistols ... now all ya need is a .45Colt or .45ACP conversion cylinder for it  laugh Wink
Dang that's a good load for your 1911 Colt looks like you found it alright.
Is the 422 the .38Super Auto that yur puttin' that site on? I was too lazy to google the 422  Smiley

No, the 422 is a lower end 22 auto.
Not sure where you got the idea that I had a 38 Super. Got a few 38 specials though.
