She's about 30 miles south of me. I check her out every time I go to Boston. They say she's only about 5% original but what a beauty.

As you drive south on Rte. 1, over the Tobin Bridge towards Boston, after you go through the tolls and before you duck into a tunnel, you have about 10 seconds to view the USS Constitution off to the left. What a contrast, seeing her docked where she is.
I read that during the Civll War, the Constitution was used as a training ship, and many Savage & Norths were issued to the crew. I tried to trace my S&N to that ship but the records are kinda scarce.

The Destroyer I was on was in for yard work for 6 months in 63.
I walked by the Constitution every time I went off base. (and came back on, of course)
Beautiful Ship. Lots of Pride there.

I think they do that to spin her around to keep the keel straight. We will be in Mass. Next year plan on checking it out.
