Gun Show Find

(1/2) > >>

tljack:
I picked up a little Colt at the gunshow here last weekend and it has me befuddled. It was sold as an 1849 Colt Pocket. It is curious in that it does not have any proof marks, nothing on the 6 shot cylinder, no country of origin and it is not marked "Black Powder only. It does have matching serial numbers in many places: wedge barrel in the normal Colt location, frame in normal location, trigger guard and on the butt of the handle. It has a brass frame and a 6" barrel. On the left side below the front of the cylinder is it marked, "Colt's Patent".

I bought it because I could not figure it out. If anyone here has some ideas, I'm listening hopefully.......

I do not know how to insert pictures so can not do that at this time

Pics man, PICS!

If you use a hosting service like photobucket you then click on "direct link" below your picture.
It will say "copied".
Then post a reply here to your thread and above the smileys the second box from the left (looks like a little picture), click on it.
It will put (img) (img) (but in square brackets) in the text box then put your cursor between those two ing's and hit control v (at the same time).
This is called "cutting and pasting". You will see the address for your picture from the image hosting service.........
Looks kinda like this:
http;//then the name and location

Don't {'P it's a slow learning curve!

Went to Photobucket and signed up, then found out it is a paysite.  NOT!!
Unfortunately this forum and me are not a match.

tljack,

Photobucket offers free image hosting.  I think it is unlimited.
