Repair ideas

(1/3) > >>

tljack:
I recently picked up a little Wells Fargo, brasser. Not really into brass but did not have one like this and it was cheap and basicly in good shape. It does have a problem in that the cylinder will not rotate when cockcking unless I move it just a little bit. The cylinder is pretty tight against the forcing cone. I was told to remove some material off the rear of the stop. This is not helping. I am wondering if putting the culinder in a mill and removing a couple thouandths off the face might help. Any ideas are most welcome.

Fingers McGee:
1.  don't put the wedge in so far
2.  use a file & take a little off the barrel.  easier than milling the cylinder face.

tljack:
Thanks for responding Fingers. The wedge is not the issue as I am having the trouble without even putting it in. I do suspect that there is not enough headspace. Actually I do not think there is any between the cylinder and the barrel.

Fingers McGee:
I had a pocket model that needed the face of the barrel (forcing cone) dressed.  It was not cut square and was keeping the cylinder from turning.   A file and stoning fixed the problem

Captainkirk:
Terry, is that the one that was on Gunbroker last week?
