Remington Beals Army?
« on: June 28, 2012, 07:09:15 AM »
Hi, a question regarding rifle twist direction on a original Remington Beals army with serial below 100.
looking down barrel, a standard Remington (1861) is clockwise, but on this Remington beals army i found twist is counterclockwise.  {'P
Its a 5 groove/land rifling so that's is correct..
Did remington change riflingdirection on beals model?
All I found mention anything about rifling direction is:

The 1858 Beals Army(Circa 1858) had a barrel twist in the direction that would unscrew the barrel that's one thing that was changed on them so the opposite twist was on the 1861 Old Army Rems (Circa 1861-1862) and also on the 1858 NMA Rems (Circa 1863 0n) for the Army to accept them for purchase among other changes...
