44 WCF Reloading Tool
« on: June 12, 2016, 07:36:42 AM »
It sure did take a while, but I finally found a Winchester 1882 patent tool in 44 WCF that I was willing to buy. A lot of people seek out tools of this calibre and as such, they are not easy to find as the other calibres. Got it for a great price. It is in plenty good shape and works very well.

Good find Scooby.   Yours is a little better than mine and I bet I paid more.   I enjoy loading with mine and will probably use my 44-40 loading dies a lot less than before.

You've been hunting that critter for some time, Scooby. Good score.

Scoob ... i notice the de-capping stud along with your loading tool. is this the correct type used with this tool ... only reason i ask is i have never seen one with any tools i have inspected before.

very nice shape it appears and should give service beyond our years as well. does it load .427 or the usual .426 diameter bullets?

just read on another forum on how a feller took his original tool {one that came with the 1873 rifles} and loaded some of the .426 bullets it cast of pure lead with 40 grains 2Fg powder in old balloon head cases and got pretty good accuracy with it {also an original '73' rifle with a semi good barrel of .436 bore diameter}

Great find and i also would like to see your rifle that will sling lead from this fine tool.
