Model 1894 30 WCF
« on: January 21, 2019, 02:00:19 PM »
I had mentioned in another post that I would feature this rifle the next time I had it out. I did not take the opportunity to do so this past summer when I used it, but will do so now. Anyway, I took it on a hike through the woods today and will honor my claim. This piece was manufactured in 1898. I bought it in 2015 at my local gun shop. I have no information on it's history. I gave it some minor restoration work right after I got it. It proved to be a sound shooter with hand loads and I have since shot it quite a bit. I have also carried it on occasion into the woods on back pack camping trips and hikes.

When I was a teenager, I held the original "30-30" Winchester with an octagon barrel in high praise. I always coveted one and thought it would be the coolest rifle to hunt with. Seems I was always short of funds in my early days to aquire one though. However, by my twenties, I had sort of forgot about the old gem. Oh well, better late than never. Regardless, I still hold this particular Winchester modle in "30-30" in high esteem.

Hi scooby, a rifle to drool over. I have some modern 94 trappers, but love the look of the octagon barrel and full length. Just lovely.

Regards,
Richard
