I plan to add a washer or so under the spring to give it more "heft" on my Italian revolvers, as well as getting the small hole nipples from TOW.

Your train of thought is right on. I installed a genuine Colt Msg. from a 2nd gen SAA and SS TOW nipples on an Uberti 1851 .36 and cap problems are almost non existent now. Colt mainsprings are heavier than Uberti's and keep the cap on the nipples during firing. I have two original Colt 1851's with original mainsprings that are noticeably heavier than any of the Uberti's that I've encountered. Nipple hole sizes seem much smaller too. 4F BP won't bleed thru them.

Hey KyJames, IF....you decided to shoot that original, Lodgewood.com has a repro cylinder for originals for $105.00, and they are IN STOCK!. I have purchased from them before and they are good folks. I bought a new repro cylinder for an original '58 Remington a few years ago, as well as other items. They have repro nipples for originals too (original thread size). I don't know about hole size, but a call to them would probably be in order.
