New guy in town
« on: June 19, 2020, 03:08:27 PM »
Howdy Folks,
My name is marten and I hang my hat in Colorado.  I have a couple of BP revolvers, a Uberti Walker Colt in .44, a Navy Arms .44 and a just acquired unknown 1851 "Old Style" in .44 of unknown make.
I think it is Armi San Marco, but not certain.  Will try to attach pics to see if anyone can help id this gun.

Welcome from the Left Coast of Washington State!

If you can post any photos of manufacturer marks/logos, proof marks, date code (alpha characters either in a rectangle or in Roman numerals) and any extraneous markings it might have.

If it is an Armi San Marco it should have a logo like this on the bottom of the frame where the barrel lug meets the frame:

If it is an Uberti it should have this logo somewhere on the frame:

Pietta revolvers are marked as a billboard on the right side of the barrel, and older ones are marked on the bottom of the frame at the barrel lug: <FAP>

Armi San Paolo revolvers usually have an encrypted DGG somewhere, but usually on the bottom of the backstrap.

Gregorelli and Uberti it will have a cursive GU on the right side of the barrel lug above the wedge, and the gun will be marked NAVY ARMS.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Jim

I don't know who made the "old model" but I don't think it's going to be one of the more well known makers. I've never heard of one so marked. Or if I have I've forgotten, which is a possibility.

Script reminds me a lot of those that were imported by Armsport. Usually Armi San Paolo

Hello & Welcome Marten,

I can see Markings on the underside of barrel.
Could you post a picture of them?

Welcome to the forum.

Need more info to identify maker.  Bottom of barrel and left side of frame should cinch it
