New Rig
« on: January 09, 2021, 03:16:04 PM »
You guys saw the Slim Jim holster I made, in another post. So I won't re-cap that here. Instead, I'll show the new pieces I made to complete the rig.

I wanted this setup specifically for black powder shooting. So a paper cartridge box and a holster for my Polish Capper were needed. Here's the completed pieces.

I wanted the capper holster to be wet molded so it would hold the capper in securely. It works perfectly. I just grab the lanyard that's attached to the capper and pull it right out. The molding holds it in with a nice positive "pop".

I didn't want the cartridge box to be too big. It's 4" wide and about 1 1/2" deep. It holds a handful of paper cartridges and isn't in the way. I may eventually make a wood block to put in it, but that will cut down on capacity. For now, having the carts in there loose will work just fine.

With everything all together on my belt, it looks and fits perfect.

All together with the belt, sheath and knife I already made that matches, it's a pretty handsome rig. It should serve me well.

Very nice, I don't have the skills so I had a similar set up made for me, holster were from Amazon, belt from local leather worker and rest was Leathersmith Mike.

AntiqueSledMan.

Thank you all for the Kindly words. I appreciate it.

ASM, I LOVE my Polish Capper! For me, it works perfectly. And It holds 150 caps. It's very easy to use, and no fiddling with it like those other types. I know they're kinda pricey, but worth every penny.

That's a fine looking rig Retreever! Mike's work speaks for itself. It's what I aspire to in my own work.

Yep, I have heard nothing but good things about those cappers. If I was shooting at the rate I did a few years ago, I would have one for sure.

Absolutely Em. If noting else, they're convenient. Like I said, they hold 150 caps. So you don't need to drag cap tins and a capper to the range. Those straight cappers that everyone uses, are a PITA for me. If the little ears aren't adjusted right, they drop caps all over the place. And they don't hold many caps to begin with. So you have to refill them. I just dump 150 caps into mine and forget it.

It does operate a little different, but once you get the hang of it, it's all good from there.
