i'm looking at picking up a brasser 44 51 "army" (yeah i know not correct) fantasy gun. it is unfired in the original box, it has no engraving on the cylinder, comes with all the paperwork, a brass/copper flask and a spare unengraved cylinder... i'm thinking of picking it up to resell and i got them down to $175 for it. sound like a good deal or should i pass?

so i bought a barrel and .45colt conversion cylinder for an 1860 colt of the pietta variety in .44. wellll, at that time when i didn't own a 60 pietta .44... since it was brand new and unfired and i paid very little for both pieces i figured this was a small problem and i could resell the parts to get my money back which would remedy the problem.

stopped down taylors today and remedied the problem...

plus this:

equals this:

dammit... i was supposed to make money off that barrel and cylinder!!!!

Gun Builds and Projects / 1860 colt .45lc build
« on: March 22, 2017, 07:08:00 PM »
so i bought an engraved with the naval scene taylors conversion cylinder and an engraved barrel for a pietta 1860 colt in .45lc... i dont own any colts in .44 other than my 3 walkers and 2 C&B 73's... i'm going to build a dual purpose gun again, like my walker, i have some questions and want some suggestions...

will the barrel and cylinder for the 60 fit on a frame for a 51 44?

i'm thinking of getting the thunderer gripped 60 that taylors does with the fluted cylinder and doing something like i did with my walker, having both C&B cylinder and the .45 cylinder and a short and long barrels all for the same gun. i think the thunderer grip would look pretty cool for both variations..

they have one of those thunderer gripped guns in the store in the white and the CCH are on back order...

what do y'all think, thunderer gripped in the white or go with the CCH?

a 51 .44 steel frame cut the 51 barrel down like my walker and have the long 60 barrel as the set?

come one guys lets spitball this and see where it lands!!!

1873 SAA Colts / twirling
« on: February 14, 2017, 08:21:01 PM »
so i, for some reason, have always been into gun twirling... im actually pretty good at it and can twirl anything with a trigger guard and have even got two full rotational twirls with my .38 double derringer once... well i relearned a valuable lesson today...

Do not twirl a SAA on half cock!!!!

the trigger sits too high from the trigger guard and the trigger will embed itself into your finger and keep going due to momentum and rip a nice big bloody notch in your finger!!!

thankfully it wasnt me this time, but a guy at the gun shop i was at tried to show me how good he could twirl is SAA after watching me twirl my 5.5 remmy .44....

Brass and Other Cartridge Casings / Bore diameter?
« on: December 06, 2016, 05:14:01 PM »
What is the average chamber diameter of a .460, 454 and 45 colt? I'm getting ready to bore the conversion cylinder out on my avenging angel Walker to chamber 460 and 454 cases but need to know what bit size I need.

1873 SAA Colts / gen question
« on: April 04, 2015, 05:25:10 AM »
so i bought the C&B SAA by pietta and just scored a .45colt cylinder on ebay for about $80 for it. i had future plans of converting it to fire .45colt as well as .44C&B but i have some questions on the whole generation thing. from what i gather, the C&B i have is pretty much first generation colt SAA, the guy i got the cylinder from says the cylinder will fit both the first and second gen colts so it should fit mine, right? i already have a plan for the firing pin issue and its a brilliant one but i'm not going to tell anyone until after its done!
