I agree, the starting bid is too high.  Got mine some time ago on Gunbroker, but was the gun only, no case.  I guess that sometime in the past it got separated from the case.

For those interested, there are 2 old Griswold & Gunnisons on Gunbroker.com.
621873030 and 625370117.  Not sure this last one has a brass frame.  If steel, it's a Leech & Rigdon.

In comparing the Dance with one of my Pietta 1851's, the frames are the same with two exceptions.  First, of course, is the lack of a recoil shield, and second, the water table is milled slightly deeper to accommodate the larger Dance cylinder.  Otherwise they are the same.

The Pietta Dance is not historically correct, however, as the originals had a frame the size of the Colt Dragoon.  The cylinder was shorter than the Dragoon, being the same length as the Colt 1860 Army, which made the Dance slightly lighter than the Dragoon.

Leech & Rigdon / Rigdon & Ansley / Removing Cylinder Engraving
« on: December 31, 2016, 12:55:39 PM »
Have any of you removed the engraving from a Leech & Rigdon cylinder, and if so, how did you do it?  Did the cylinder still function correctly afterward?

Thanks,

RC

Jim

Finally acquired a digital caliper, and was able to measure the diameter of the Dance and G & G cylinders.
The Dance is 1.5915" and the G & G is 1.5315".  Hope this is helpful.
