Navy Models / Any Conversion for that Spesco'd Revolver
« on: May 02, 2016, 02:25:31 PM »
The frame is a DGG (?) Colt.  The Spesco barrel ID is about 0.367 inch on the lands.
Is this too loose for a .38 special conversion?  ???

I have pounds of .38 special brass.

General Discussion / Euroarms DGG .36 cal weirdo cylinder
« on: June 21, 2015, 11:59:24 AM »
I probably posted this one a long while back, but I am entertaining a conversion cylinder for this puppy.

It is a Euroarms 1862 .36 cal that had the barrel shortened to 4.25 inches because the front internal portion was badly pitted.
Also the cylinder is made kinda funny.

I would like info as what cylinder I could use as I have piles of .38 spec and .357 brass (way more than my wife could ever shoot with her 2 inch snubby .357 maggie).  It would be nice to have a gated type of cylinder (who?/what?)

Walkers & Dragoons / Got to shoot it today.
« on: November 06, 2013, 07:17:27 PM »
Took the Walker out to Rio Salado Range (Mesa, AZ).
Got to shoot about 12 cylinders full, 30gr of 777 FFFg, two leather plugs, a .454 RB, and some grease on top.
Some of the RB's popped back up but after rotating them a bit they stayed down.

Later during a full cleaning I took the trigger guard off and the main spring was now loose. (I hear you laughing)  *6'
After the cleaning, I tried to get 'er back together. OK this is not working, so off to the internet to find out how to put the mainspring back together. After reading a bit someone suggested "zip ties". Wah-lah some kind of answer. So out came the really cheap chinese made zippies. During tightening them down (2 each) they decided to break sending the main spring somewhere into my garage. You must remember that I just moved here in July and the garage is full of boxes. Now I am upset.  After searching for over an hour, I find it under a shelf somewhere I did not expect (actually I started doing something else). Yippee, Found! Then I wandered down (driving over the speed limit of course) to the hardware store and  picked up some really huge zip ties. The zip tie didn't work at first as I tried to zip it around the "C" in the spring. It jumped out again from the bend end. Then the zip was tied just over the spring clip area and it held long enough for me to get the screws started, DONE!  )k*

She's all back together again and clean too.

Whew, and I have more huge zip ties for next time.

Navy Models / New 1851 Navy Sheriff
« on: October 19, 2013, 07:27:08 PM »
Wandering around in the Glendale AZ Cabela's, I found a 1851 Navy Sheriff (brass framed) in .44 cal.
As I was checking out, the checker female said that I won a free item.
I waited for it to come down and it was the starter kit.
Also they had Remington #10 percussion caps at $7.95 (or thereabouts), got one of those too.
Now to wait for Wednesday to try her out at Rio Salado.  8)

Yes, I know about reduced loads and I have some Goex 3Fg that I'll probably use, so I don't have to figure out those percentages using "propellants".  *Z$
