That's kinda purdy! Is that steel frame or nickel plated brass? Thanks for your entry, BTW! Glad you decided to join us here!

I'm still debating if I want to post an entry, and if I do, what do I have that might be good enough to even be considered. Maybe tomorrow.

Mine too Capt.

That is a magnificent photo. The Starr is cool as hell. And that jawbone handled knife is just off the chart.

It's steel. Frame and cylinder. Not sure what the plating is on the gold parts. Seller said it was an early import. The one I have in 44 without the gold has a date code for 1971

This is both of two known J F. Garrett Revolvers. It was made in Greensboro NC, circa 1862 by the same people that made Tarpley Carbine.

Those are a first for me! Even Flayderman has nothing to say about Garrett revolvers, only the single shot pistol. Do you have any more info about them? My impression is that they are 5-shot .31 caliber.

Albaugh, Benet, and Simmons Confederate Handguns (1963) devotes 5 pages (pp. 163-167) concerning J. and F. Garrett and Company. While it seems they made and marketed a wide assortment of items (sewing machines, pistols, guns, hats, as well as the Tarpley carbine) I can find no mention of any revolvers. Can you supply any more photos concerning markings, etc.?

My Internet searches have amounted to zilch.

Very nice!

Regards,

Jim
