Title: Early 3rd model 1851 Navy

Got this from Rock Island Auctions last June; but, wasn't able to post pictures till this week.  Early 3rd Model 1851 Navy made in 1852.  timing and lockup are spot on.  I did take it out and shoot it and it functioned flawlessly.  Planning to take it out for  a thorough range report when the weather improves   Finish is - there aint none except some silver on the TG and sme blue under the loading lever.  So, without further ado I give you:

I'd like to point out that often what people call the "Pietta Tail"  and go through great pains to remove is present on this fine Colt.  I often said that 51 grips varied over the production runs and that Pietta copied an early 51.  You have added to my belief.

Actually, they aren't, even though Colt Navy gripframe assemblies are varied ['51 Navies (Swayze, 1967)] :
