ok my friend Steve sent me some pictures of the 1858 remington but the marks were to blurry to read so I called him and got the follwing info. the date code is xx8 and the mark on the barrel is a DGG in a circle. the frame barrel and cylinder all have a PN and a star in a circle and some sort of shield. The barrel is stamped .44 CAL NEW MODEL ARMY, FOR BLACK POWDER ONLY and LYMAN MIDDLEFIELD CONN. Serial number is on the butt of the gun and is 093XX

Thanx, Capt and Fingers. Steve should be getting me pictures soon. Sounds like I might be getting a good deal as he is asking less than your estimate value

Hello all, my first question on this great message board. My friend Steve has an older Lyman 1858 remington he is offering to sell me I do not have the details right now but he says it is a collecter piece. He is supposed to send me some pictures and details about the gun soon. Do any of you know who made these for Lyman and have an estimated value? It has been shot but is in good condition & comes with the box. This will by my fisrt black powder gun purchase.

Thanx, Powder
